Quintiles web resource wins health award
Dec 19 2012
Quintiles' web resource ClinicalResearch.com has collected its third Web Health Award in successive years.
The website acts as a patient community, made up of more than 230,000 registered users. These people can use the online presence as a place to be educated on clinical trials and pick up information on other studies.
Work relating to diseases such as cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer's is available on the site, with trials being organised in terms of condition and global geography.
The 2012 Web Health Award has gone to a cancer microsite within ClinicalResearch.com, with the pages aiming to empower patients' understanding of the role molecular-taregeted medicine can have in the treatment of cancer.
Entitled Molecular Targeted Cancer Care 101, the resource includes information relating to specific pharma medicine, helping people to inform decisions relating to enrolment in clinical trials for oncology therapies.
N-of-One helped Quintiles to develop the site, with the company's PrecisionWorks knowledge integration framework being utilised for personalised cancer medicine.
Jodi Snare, Quintiles vice president of digital strategy, said: "Quintiles is humbled to receive a third Web Health Award for our ClinicalResearch.com patient resource. As oncology shifts toward individualized care, patients and physicians must understand complex biological concepts if they are to understand their tumors and their medical choices."
Jennifer Levin Carter, founder and chief medical officer of N-of-One, stated that a growing body of research now supports the use of molecular diagnostic technologies and their associated targeted therapies.
"We are very pleased to partner with Quintiles to offer a unique resource that couples state-of-the-art, molecular insights about precision cancer medicine with valuable information about cancer clinical trials to empower patients to understand and discuss with their caregivers the role of molecular-targeted oncology in their cancer treatment strategy," she continued.
Recently, Quintiles also received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists Biorepository Accreditation Program.
It was created to ensure biorepositories follow best practices for collection and storage of biospecimens, and underlines Quintiles' strong work in the field.
