Thames Restek Plans a Sustainable Future
Jun 10 2009
Thames Restek Ltd., has begun its journey to reduce their carbon footprint by initiating a sustainability programme under ISO 14001 accreditation and management.
“We are committed to providing an environmental management system and its supporting audit programme to establish a plan to reduce emissions from travel, waste and energy,” said Martin Chignall, Thames Restek M.D.
“It is yet another example of our continuing commitment to quality, health & safety and environmental protection in all that we do within the operation of the business. It goes hand-in-hand with the stringent requirements to which we adhere under ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001.”
Thames Restek have customers all over the U.K. so their most challenging target is to reduce emissions from their company car fleet by 10 percent.
It is hoped that the introduction of catalogues on CD will reduce the amount of printed material generated and distributed and the in-house recycling programme is making a very noticeable impact.
“ All these activities are being co-ordinated and centralised through the Thames Restek ‘Green Book’, which is accessible by all staff, customers and suppliers, “ continued Martin Chignall. “We have encouraged everyone
involved with the company to put forward ideas that will enhance our commitment to helping prevent environmental pollution.”
With 20 years experience in the industry, Thames Restek provides an unrivalled range of quality chromatography equipment and accessories from key manufacturers including the US Restek Corporation as well as Parker Balston, Valco and Hamilton. The company prides itself on its ability to react quickly to customers’ requirements and the extensive technical knowledge of its team.
