Spectrometry used to measure accuracy in arsenic analysis

Apr 06 2011

Scientists have used spectrometry as part of their analysis of the accuracy of arsenic measures.

Published in the Chemistry Central Journal, the study looks at the measurement of arsenic levels in suspended particle matter (SPM).

The researchers highlight that this undertaking is particularly important in determining how trustworthy data about arsenic in the environment is, as well as the potential for preventative steps.

Investigating which factors exactly may cause uncertainty in the results, the scientists looked at seven sites in Delhi in order to analyse arsenic in SPM samples.

"It has been found that the results mostly depend on the uncertainty in measurement mainly due to repeatability, final volume prepared for analysis, weighing balance and sampling by HVS," comment the team.

An open-access online publication, Chemistry Central Journal releases peer-reviewed papers covering a range of areas within the scientific discipline.

The journal is split into more than 50 subject focuses.
