Top Pharmaceutical Scientists to Convene at SFC 2009 Conference in Philadelphia, PA, USA

Leading chromatography scientists from Pfizer, Merck, AstraZeneca, Novartis, Bristol Myers Squibb, Schering-Plough, Amgen,Wyeth and other major pharmaceutical companies will gather in Philadelphia for the SFC 2009 Conference on July 22-23, 2009. SFC (Supercritical Fluid Chromatography) is an environmentally friendly chemical research and development method promoted by the Green Chemistry Group, organizers of this meeting. Increasingly adopted by pharmaceutical companies worldwide, this cutting-edge technology is applied in drug discovery and purification processes.

James Waters, founder of Waters Associates (now Waters Corporation) and a leader in the field of chromatography, will serve as Chairman of the conference. SFC 2009 will be comprised of an exhibition, scientific program and workshops at the Radisson Plaza – Warwick Hotel in Philadelphia. Professor Larry Taylor from Virginia Tech University is Chairman of the SFC 2009 Scientific Committee which is comprised of scholars from the University ofMontreal, Amgen, Pfizer andWuXi Apptech.

“Supercritical Fluid Chromatography is directly related to the mission of the Green Chemistry Group and continues to grow as the preferred research method in the pharmaceutical industry,” commented James Waters. “The first two international conferences, organized by the Green Chemistry Group, attracted distinguished chemists and academicians from across the world. We expect the third international conference, SFC 2009, to provide another lively forum for the introduction of new developments and progress in this field from users and developers of the technology,” he added. Chiral Technologies, JASCO, Regis Technologies and TharSFC/Waters are sponsors of this conference. Additional sponsors are welcome to participate. Information on the sponsorship levels and benefits can be found on the website www.greenchemistrygroup.org.

The Scientific Committee is accepting abstracts for consideration as poster presentations on the website. Speakers and delegates interested in this growing field are welcome to attend by registering online. The deadline for early registration discounts is May 31, 2009.
