CAMAG TLC-MS Interface – rapid and contamination-free extraction directly into MS
Apr 29 2014
Not all samples may be processed by HPLC-MS or HPLC-DAD systems due to no or low detection of the compounds or impurities in the UV range, a heavy matrix load or a lack of MS compatible solvents, however necessary for the HPLC separation. Wherever complex substance mixtures are analyzed, TLC/HPTLC often is an excellent and efficient alternative to HPLC, as it enables simultaneous processing of sample and standard and allows for lower analysis time and less cost per analysis. Hyphenating the capabilities of TLC/HPTLC with the strengths of mass spectrometry opens new possibilities for reliable identification of chromatographic fractions.
With the TLC-MS Interface a very convenient and universal solution is available which is capable of semi-automatic extraction and online transfer into a connected HPLC-MS system. The interface extracts the complete substance zone with its depth profile and thus enables identification of unknown substances at a limit of detection as known from HPLC-MS. Depending on the MS system questioned substances are directly extracted from the TLC/HPTLC plate and identified within less than a minute via its mass spectrum, or for unknown substance zones the respective sum formula can be obtained.
The CAMAG TLC-MS Interface can be installed plug & play into any given MS system without adjustments or mass spectrometer modifications and enables rapid and contamination-free elution of selected zones.
